WOS are, quite simply, the UK’s most eco friendly band. We play infectious rhythmic music on entirely recycled junk.

We drum on things that have genuinely been thrown away. Because of this, the recycling message instantly hits home; there is no mistaking our environmentally friendly ethos and that is what is on display to our audiences.

WOS have performed in towns, cities and villages all over Britain as major parts of environmental campaigns, including the recent national Rethink Rubbish campaign. We really know how to get the eco friendly message across because that’s what we believe in and is the ethos behind the band.

WOS can and have played anywhere! We are extremely flexible. From offering short, sharp blasts of sound that really attracts a crowd to our unique, melodic background music, our sing-a-long performances and our amazing interactive workshops where everyone gets to bash along on our handheld junk instruments, recycling has never been so much fun!

Weapons of Sound and The United Nations

Weapons of Sound have been approached by the United Nations and they are now working together to promote the global "Seal The Deal" Campaign (www.coolplanet2009.org)

"Seal The Deal" is the powerful new campaign that will be replacing the Kyoto agreement at the UN Climate Change conference in Copenhagen, December 2009.

At COP 15, this December, the World's Governments will meet to Seal the Deal on a new climate change agreement, which must be ambitious, fair and effective in reducing emissions while assisting Countries as they adapt to the inevitable effects of climate change.

Weapons of Sound are honoured to have been invited by the UN to highlight the campaign with the use of our eco friendly music.

Weapons of Sound will be featured on the Cool Planet Website as a cool friend which will include our videos, music and featured articles on new green projects and innovations.

How do we make our instruments?

We source our junk wherever we can. All our materials have genuinely been used and then thrown away. We root through skips, tips and factory waste looking for interesting stuff. We get things given to us and we highly recommend Scrap Stores. We then bend, saw, file, tune and finally polish each reclaimed item until it looks and sounds up to the standard of WOS junk. It’s now ready to embark on it’s career as a WOS instrument!

Carbon Footprint

As of 22nd April 2009 - Weapons of Sound are now officially the UK's greenest band. We now offset all of our carbon emissions back dating to 2006 when we started trading as a limited company.

Also this month we have introduced a new green scheme. Every time you book Weapons of Sound, a tree is planted in the UK through the Tree Appeal, a DEFRA approved company.(www.treeappeal.com)

This is our ethos and this is what puts WOS at the cutting edge of innovative recycling.

"Just a quick note to thank you and your team very much for attending our event on Tuesday and subsequent workshops and performance in George Yard yesterday.

You were definately the main attraction on Tuesday and the schools that attended other workshops were dissapointed they could not do yours as it looked and I'm sure was much more fun. Feedback from the schools that were lucky enough to have a workshop with you has been very complimentary.  Your performances on the Tuesday and Wednesday were fabulous and certainly drew the crowds.

We have forwarded your details to many interested parties and hope you get future bookings as a result. Thanks once again."
